Spectra Engineering PTY LTD is committed to providing it's customers with a more environmentally friendly (greener) products, which are compliant with European Union (EU) RoHS Directive . This RoHS Directive requires producers of electrical and electronic equipment to eliminate the use of six environmentally-sensitive substances: lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium; and the use of Polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and Polybrominated biphenyl ether(PBDE) flame retardants, in electrical and electronic products sold in the EU beginning July 1, 2006. These six pollutants can cause considerable damage in there extraction of the raw materials and their eventual disposal can cause damage to both the environment, as well as to human health from occupational exposure and exposure following disposal. Spectra’s product development is proceeding according to plan and have made considerable headway in transitioning towards RoHS-compliant products and processes. Since RoHS is an EU directive, in the strict sense, compliance
outside of the EU is not mandatory. However, other countries
such China & Thailand are now talking about similar
approaches. Spectra’s progress is very dependent upon our non
European Union supplier's readiness and capability to make
